Teen Math

Just as a teenager must leave home — not because the parents were perfect or imperfect, but simply because it is time to grow up — God is calling us to stop waiting for approval from past authorities and step out into the promised land he has already prepared for us. Those authorities can be parents, church leaders, mentors, teachers, community systems, or even just the imagined opinions of any of these that we carry around in our heads long after the relationship has ended — sometimes even after the person has gone to Heaven. The leaving is necessary either way, because it was never really about them, but about what God wants for us.
Every Season of Grace Has an Expiration Date. God calls us from glory to glory, which means every safe & sweet season is also an invitation to leave it behind and walk on water again in a new one.
Rejection Is Often God's Redirection Toward Something New. Whoever won't receive what we carry might actually be God's voice pointing us toward where we wipe the dust off our feet and build something unprecedented.
Anger Is Boundary Energy From God, Not a Sin to Suppress. Like Jesus clearing the temple, our anger marks where a line was crossed and points us toward both our calling and the next thing we are meant to create.
Checking In With Old Authorities Before Saying Yes to God Can Be Idolatry. An idol is anything we must consult before we can say yes to God, and only the Father can truly grant permission for the new thing he is calling us into.
Never Show a Rough Sketch to the Rulers. The creative, teenage part of us carries something unprecedented and unrepeatable, and the entrenched rulers will almost always pick it apart before it has any room to breathe.
Forgiving Leaders of the Past Clears Capacity for the Next Level. The parts of us porstill arguing internally with absent authority figures spend the exact resources God needs from us to go build something new.
Blaming Authority Burns the Wrong Fuel. Star Wars insight: the energy we spend in bitterness toward flawed mentors (e.g, Luke to Ben Kenobi about his father) is the exact energy we need to go face our own Vader.
Leaving and Cleaving to Jesus Is Something We Do Over and Over. Like marriage, some gifts only come to a bride — and every time God calls us into something unfamiliar, we get the privilege of leaving everything else and cleaving to him again.
The Jail Cell Is Already Open — We Can Walk Out. Plato's cave and earthquake survivors who stayed in their demolished prison show how God is always saying we have more freedom than we realize.
At Cana, Jesus Used Ritual Purification Jars to Hold the Best Wine. Even the containers we use to wash off the old stuff are the ones God fills with the new — he is always bigger than the limitation.
Heaven Already Sees a Fuller Version of Us Than We Do. The part that still thinks it is the helpless rejected kid is lying — we are shinier, wiser, and more capable than we have ever been, and Jesus wants to tell us what he sees.
God Planned the Movie, and It Is a Love Story. He goes before us into every season and every struggle — we just have to say Yes to the love.
HEAVENLY SURRENDER
Although angels are remarkable beings, they are fascinated by how you entrust Me with directing your existence.
But for Me to serve you more effectively, remember that the attempts to lead with your earthly efforts will be short-lived, causing consternation. The illusion of autonomous control is a deceptive tool of the enemy, aimed at separating you from your inheritance. I have promised to care for your life, and I am much more capable of doing so than you are.
The strategy of the darkness is to gradually confine you into a prison of self-protection, inadvertently restricting My help. As I will not submit to a jail cell, choose your freedom by simply surrendering to the reality of My unending, diligent love for you. Enjoy the assurance that I am here in the midst of it all, rescuing you into a more secure future.
When you feel the painful yearning deep inside upon facing a difficult situation, begin to seek guidance from the Spirit as to what is going on.
You will find that I ask you to die to your soul’s control, for the purpose of increased supernatural union, leading to the fruit of contentment, confidence, and power, wherever this life finds you.
True heartfelt relinquishing of concerns is the only way you can know the source of heavenly life, which is the gift of Christ Jesus, your Lord and rescuer, your brother, your beginning, your end, your all in all.
”Jesus submitted to the Father, who put all things under Him so that God may be all in all.”
